10 Attractions To Visit Whilst On Holiday In Cornwall
Cornwall is traditionally known to be a top sea side destination, boasting some of the best beaches in the country that include a number of Blue Flag beaches such as Carbis Bay in St Ives, Gllynvase Beach in Falmouth and Porthemmit beach in North Cornwall. Other than the beaches, there are plenty of attractions and places to visit in Cornwall including: 1) The Eden Project, St Austell The Eden Project located in St Austell, is on the the UK's top gardens and conservations tourist attractions. 2) Newquay Zoo, Newquay Experience the world's wildlife with Cornwall 's award winning Newquay Zoo. 3) National Maritime Museum, Falmouth The National Maritime Museum and Royal Observatory, Greenwich, have a collection of over 2 million objects about the sea, ships, astronomy and time. 4) Land's End Land’s End has struck at people’s imagination for generations, being a place of almost mystical beauty where the might of the Atlantic meets the towering cliffs of Cornwall. 5) Geevor Tin Mine, Land's End Closed as a working mine in 1990, it is now a preserved mining site and museum managed by Pendeen Community Heritage. 6) Minack Theatre, Penzance The Minack Theatre is an open-air theatre, constructed above a gully with a rocky granite outcrop jutting into the sea (minack in Cornish means a stony or rocky place). The theatre is located near Porthcurno, 4 miles from Land's End. 7) St Michael's Mount, Penzance Through the centuries St Michael’s Mount has been a wealthy port, a monastery, a fortress, a film set and a home. Now one of Cornwall’s most compelling tourist destinations, the Mount welcomes over 200,000 visitors each year. 8) Tate Gallery, St Ives The Tate Gallery extension in St Ives, Cornwall opened in 1993. It presents modern art created in, or associated with, Cornwall. It is a purpose built gallery, on the site of the old town gasworks, and has wonderful views over the coast. It is owned by the Cornwall County Council and managed by the Tate. The building is striking, and is full of light and perspectives suitable for exhibiting paintings, sculptures and ceramics 9) Paradise Park, St Ives Paradise Park - one of Cornwall's top wildlife sanctuaries is close by on the main road out of St Ives to Hayle, home to the World Parrot Trust as well as otters, squirrels and birds. The Park is set around a Victorian walled garden, and features tropical plants which thrive in Cornwall's mild climate. The JungleBarn indoor play centre provides plenty of active fun for children whatever the weather. 10) Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station, Helston Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station.
