10 Keys To Success In Your Home Based Business Opportunity
We all know that being "in control" is a myth, but there are steps that we can take so that we know that we're doing the best we can(within reason) to get the results that we're looking for...keep in mind that discipline is important in our marketing and prospecting as well as in our thoughts--that is we need to discipline our actions and our thoughts toward the positive most of the time as that is a crucial element to success in our business....the goal is to be a THERMOSTAT not a THERMOMETER and to not react to circumstances but to move through them. 1) Work at set time each and every day----yes it's not exciting to think about as we have images of home based business owners on yachts etc. but the reality of it is that they are probably on that yacht a few weeks a year and the other weeks hard at work--even if it's only four hours a day--during that four hours they are laser focused. The set schedule is going to determine hobbyist vs. professional in our industry. And we say "well I thought that was the point of HBB so that we didn't have to have a set schedule--but that's a myth--the point of a HBB is so that YOU (not your boss) are CHOOSING the schedule to get the best results for YOU and YOUR FAMILY---so a set schedule is the best way for most of us to get professional results. 2) Document your results--it can be as simple or complicated as you like--for me it's simple--how many presentations a day were done and then add it up for the week and keep that paper for the year--this way you know what efforts are yielding what results--it's a way of "getting real" with yourself....at the end of the day if you have no or one presentation--then you basically didn't work......if you bought a McDonalds--you would track numbers so as not to waste time, money, and energy--you wouldn't order the number of burgers for Monday that you do for Saturday as you'd be "revisiting your numbers" often. 3) Attend 2 live training calls a week----to discipline your mind--professionals such as CPA's Dr's etc. all go to training regularly for continued education--pick any two and any combo--maybe your team call given by your company and then a call with Dani Johnson or with Jeff Combs, who are generic trainers in our industry. We need to stay in the energy of like-minded motivated action-oriented people with a heart to serve. 4) Build your Belief----discipline your mind and heart because skill FOLLOWS belief--You can do this by using your company's products and services as well as by memorizing testmionials. You can listen to info from Donald Trump and Warren Buffet speaking about the benefits of Network Marketing. By doing this "belief building" you will handle objections better without sounding like you're on the defense. So if a prospect tell you "I don't have the time" you say "I understand how you feel--many of us feel that way--but you're in good company--we have (offer an example from your company)--so if you see the vision and work consistently--you can certainly succeed this our team and this company." 5) Focus on the big picture----not the little challenges and highs and lows etc. as those things pass quickly and are meaningless later on--the slight edge principle rules. Keep in mind that the small successes lead to big successes over time but the little challenges are meaningless soon after--unless we choose to tune into them and give them power--etc. A life-changing book about this topic is The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson. 6) Stay in the field----if a farmer is sowing seeds in the ground--it's natural that a bird will come down here and there and take a seed and fly away--the key is NOT TO LEAVE THE FIELD to chase it. It's tempting in our biz to "leave the field" when surfing the web--sending fun emails all day etc. or getting caught up in drama or negativity with dream stealers, social media, etc. but just think of those fleeting things as the birds that are "trying" to take you off the field (prospecting and marketing) and choose NOT to follow them. 7) Plan ahead for marketing----we can't work and have people to talk to by default--it is up to us--even if we start on a small scale like I did--to plan the what and the when and the how of our businesses---for example--where will I place ads? Where will I invest my advertising dollars in the next quarter? What is my niche market? Aam I trying to sell steak to vegetarians? as Mike Dillard always says....remember--you are a business developer and this is what business developers do.....they DEVELOP their busineses and it doesn't happen by accident:) 8) Focus on EFFORTS not EXPECTATIONS----we can't control how the chips will fall--your goals have to come to fruition IF and ONLY IF you are putting fourth consistent effort. If your efforts are consistent and focused--success and mastery are inevitable so don't stress over them--know they are yours---period. 9) Take 100% responsibility for your work in this business----that step is worth millions to us. This is the core of Jack Canfield's book THE SUCCESS PRINCIPLES but it's the key to most success also. Top Producers would not say "I'm not getting as many optins as I should be getting" when they began marketing for a new venture--they would say "I need to increase my advertising so that I can receive more optins each day" so that they are truly owning the process and the results.... 10) Enjoy yourself----we must enjoy ourselves in this business--the best way to do this is to figure out on a superficial level what pleases you--burn a good smelling candle--have music on in the background--keep funny articles or cartoons around you--read positive books etc. on a deeper level. Even take a few minute each day to come from INSPIRATION not MOTIVATION--Being rah rah rah positive all the time is not realisitc--but focusing on "what has you" and enjoying the fact that you are in the process of moving toward that..and knowing that the true enjoyment comes from helping others and seeing results....if you're enjoying yourself--others will want to have what you have...... And away we go....
