10 More Quick Tips On Buying Baby Clothes
Baby clothes seem like a simple subject. Yet once you've been dressing a baby at not only morning and night time, but after every liquid burp, every overfull nappy and every muddy adventure, you'll soon develop a good sense for the baby clothes features that are sensible ... and those that just aren't! If you don't want to wait that long though, here's 10 more quick tips on buying baby clothes. 1. Sleepsuits - a parent's lifesaver! Once babies grow out of being swaddled to sleep, they almost invariably kick all their blankets off during the night and then cry when they get cold. A baby sleeping bag is the best solution to this dilemma - a zip-up cotton-poly bag that they can't wriggle out of. 2. Buttons or zips? If you have a choice, go for baby clothes with snap fasteners. Buttons take too long, and baby clothes with zips have to be compleytely opened from top to 'bottom' to get at the nappy. 3. Skirt shopping Skirts on girls are mainly for winter - otherwise they usually end up as a crowning glory for a great view of your baby's nappy! In winter you'll have tights on underneath the skirt, making her a bit more presentable. Make sure the waist isn’t too tight on her. 4. Coloring for kids clothes Boys usually wear blue and brown, girls wear pink and yellow. However, many parents get royally sick of seeing boys in blue and girls in pink! Given that most baby clothes gifts you get will probably be in these 'safe' colours, when you’re doing your own baby clothes shopping it's best to branch out a little, colour wise. 5. Jumpsuits or separates? Jumpsuits are exceptionally easy - you only have to find one piece of baby clothes in the morning, and there's no worrying about lost socks! However, separates are much more flexible aesthetically. It's good to have a mix of jumpsuits and 'big people's clothes' for your baby. 6. Turtlenecks These are great in winter, but often get covered in drool and milk. Some kids are irritated by them, also. Buy just one to test out how your child goes with this style of baby clothes. 7. Pants Always buy baby pants with an elasticized waist - zips and buttons are invariably either too tight or too loose. 8. Hats Babies' skin burns VERY easily - they'll definitely need a hat as part of their staple baby clothes. Just keep picking it up and putting it back on... 9. Premature baby clothes You can get clothes for premature babies starting from 8-O. There is a much greater variety available online than in stores, though. 10. Nappies A word to the wise ... there is almost no difference between the 'no brand' nappies and the most expensive. Save yourself the cash for baby clothes that don’t get used as a toilet!
