Around five years ago, I got to go to a horse racing event for the first time. Ever since, I've been hooked. Here are 10 reasons why I think you should give it a try.

1. You might win some money - While many people go and don't win, the thrill of putting on a bet and cheering on your horse to victory is a fantastic feeling.

2. You could spot a celebrity - The racing attracts a wide number of interesting people, including celebrities and, occasionally, royalty.

3. You can get dressed up - What woman doesn't like putting on a new dress and fancy shoes? Men get togged up, too, making for a thoroughly glamorous day.

4. You can enjoy the frenetic energy of the races - Win or lose, the thrill of choosing your horse, placing a bet and watching the race is electric and an experience you won't forget.

5. You can entertain clients - If your business requires you to build long-lasting relationships with customers, then where better to consolidate it than at the races?

6. You can grease the wheels with prospective clients - If you're courting a particularly lucrative bit of business and need something on top of your offer to sweeten the deal, the races should do the trick.
