10 Reasons For Miscarriage

When a woman miscarries it is very difficult to determine the actual reason for the tragedy. In fact, in most cases of miscarriage the actual reason is unknown.

1. Fetal Chromosomal Abnormalities. In these cases the fetus does not have the correct number of chromosomes. It has little chance of survival and is expelled from the womb. Nobody's fault, just a freak of nature.

2. The Age of the Mother Modern Western society has lead to women leaving the establishment of a family until later in life, their career taking precedence. This is not how we have evolved. As women age their eggs get older and deteriorate. The net effect is that women over age 35 have about a 50% chance of miscarriage.

3. Sexually Transmitted Diseases Women who are infected by a sexually transmitted disease have high rates of miscarriage.

4. Stress Stress plays a large role in many human ailments. Many women who miscarry are under extreme stress in their lives in one way or another.

5. Low Levels of Progesterone Progesterone plays a large role in the development and growth of the fetus. It is reasonable to assume that the fetus ceases to be viable if there is insufficient progesterone to sustain it.

6. Exposure to Chemicals Modern chemicals are known to cause cancer and many other diseases in life. Where a pregnant woman is exposed to these chemicals it is likely to have a significant negative affect on the fetus

7. Disease and Infections Bacterial infections lime chlamydia and streptococcus are known to cause miscarriage. Viures and parasites have also been known to result in miscarriage.(This list is not exhaustive)

8. Chronic Ilnesses Chronic illnesses like diabetes , hypertension, renal complaints or thyroid abnormalities have been known to cause miscarriage.

9. Structural Abnormalities of the Uterus Abnormalities such as a misshapen uterus or fibroids may cause miscarriages.

10. Social Toxins Use, especially excessive use of alcohol, caffeine, drugs and/or tobacco have been known to contribute to miscarriage. If the viability of the fetus is marginal, any of these could tip the balance.

There are clearly many different reason that will cause a pregnancy to be involuntarily terminated. This list is a bit of a guide. The actual reason may be any one or combination of the above factors, or it might be something else altogether. The reason is, however, likely to be in the above list.
