10 Reasons To Quit Drinking

There are many reasons why people should quit drinking. However, some reasons are just far too important to ignore.

These are 10 of the most important:

1. Drinking can lead to serious health problems. Among these are liver damage, alcohol poisoning, automobile injuries, coma, and death.

2. Alcohol can cause your body to become dependent on it. The end result is that you could find yourself unable to do anything without being under the influence. It can get to the point where you can’t even sleep without waking up to take another drink. This is because you would wake up in the middle of the night violently ill from withdrawal.

3. Addiction to alcohol can cause everybody you ever knew or cared about to abandon you. Severe alcoholics are not themselves. They will lie over and over again to their loved ones and eventually find themselves locked in a room drinking themselves to death.

4. Alcohol consumption can lead to severe economic hardships. Alcohol dependency makes it impossible to keep a job and the habit costs money to maintain.

5. Drinking takes the place of all the activities you once found enjoyable. Again, it can lead to locking oneself in a room doing nothing but drink.

6. The pleasurable feeling when drinking disappears when alcohol dependency forms. What you are left with is a constant state of nausea, sweating, shaking hands, chills, and blackouts.

7. Dependency causes you to loose your sense of self worth. Eventually, your next drink becomes more important than any concern for yourself.

8. Drinking hurts those you care about the most. They sit by wanting to help you. They watch as you commit slow suicide with no ability to stop you.

9. Intoxication can cause serious legal trouble such as D.U.I.s and vehicular homicide.

10. Heavy drinking can lead to blackouts. This means that you can wake up in a strange location and have no idea how you got there or what transpired the night before.

In conclusion, these are only the more serious problems that can come
with a drinking problem. There are many more problems that can result
that are less damaging but still pose a serious threat to your well
being. The problems start out small and gradually intensify as the
habit moves on. Alcoholism is known as a progressive disease so it is
urgent that you quit the habit sooner rather than later.
