10 Simple Ways To Build Targeted Traffic To Your Blog
With an online business it is impossible to survive without a steady flow of targeted traffic. Whether it is to our Blog or Website it is equally important. The importance is that it comes from a variety of sources as we should never put all our eggs in one basket.
There are two different types of traffic links that you should be aware of that is created through Google.
NoFollow – Doesn’t affect the search engines
DoFollow – All links are taken seriously be Google so create links responsibly otherwise you could lose valuable ranking status.
Today I would like to focus on both types of targeted traffic:
Optimising your Website
On your actual website you want it to be optimised for the search engines. Firstly you want to use standard compliant code. An example of this is keeping your HTML and CSS separate. Also you should create a site map so that your content is easily indexable by the search engines. Another thing to look into is the robots exclusion standard. One of the most important aspects of optimising your website is creating good titles and links and without this you will struggle to optimise your site.
Optimising your links on other websites
Remember backlinks? The important part of making backlinks work for you is creating them correctly. When you leave a link on another website you need to pay attention to what is called the anchor text. The anchor text should include your keywords where possible to get maximum exposure. You should follow the same idea with Blog posts making sure that your keywords feature at the beginning of the post.
Using keywords effectively
Now that we know how links use keywords, let’s talk about the article itself. When you write an article it should use your keywords. As long as you pick keywords that are associated with your post the better chance your targeted traffic have of finding you. Write naturally and the keywords will flow as you write and your confidence in obtaining the keywords will become second nature to you.
Word of mouth
Obvious you may think? Well many discard it as a waste of time but I believe it is a wonderful way of building relationships with your future readers and customers. Do something nice for someone and I am certain they will re-pay you by commenting on your services to others.
Build a list
Using the various methods available to you is the perfect place to start when it comes to building a quality list. Offer a quality product for free in exchange for joining your list and once you have them within your community give them regular quality content and they will be happy to open their wallets. I love aweber for this they are very easy to follow and reasonably priced too!
Write & submit articles
I know I mention this often but it is a great way to build quality links back to your website or Blog. If you don’t have the time why not use a virtual assistant to write them for you it will save you a lot of time and effort. If you do like writing your own a quality piece will only take you 20 minutes if you can just do five a day you will be laughing all the way to the bank.
Web 2.0 Sites
Those that knock web 2.0 sites are often those that haven’t even tried it! They can work wonders to build up your traffic base. Many of them offer software where you can place offers to your products even whilst you’re sleeping. It can help build up relationships with customers and I know many people now have their whole business just through the likes of Twitter or Facebook.
Buy Ads
I had to fit this in somewhere; we can’t enter a forum or community without someone turning to the success of Google Adwords or similar sites. They can bring in brilliant traffic for you but it comes at a price and it’s only worth doing if you know how to compete with the thousands of others that use it.
Comment on related sites
Find some useful Blogs in your category and leave a comment and you will have a link back to you. Make sure that what you leave is of quality and not a repeat of what someone else has said otherwise you may find that they simply don’t include it.
Video
Even though I don’t do videos myself they can be a really good source of generating attention and traffic. You just have to think about how big you tube has become to see this. If you’re an affiliate why not show a video of how a product works or what a difference it has made to you. The viewer will also see that you have made the extra effort and are more likely to come back for more.
These ten suggestions can seriously make a difference to your online traffic and improve your SEO.
