10 Ways To Entertain The Kids This Halloween
Trick or treating is becoming a nervy business, with parents none too sure if they're happy to let their kids go and knock on stranger's doors, and people concerned they'll get a group of thugs knocking on their door. So this year we propose a Halloween Party. You can invite all your local neighbourhood children and have a huge Halloween party where all of the children can have a great time safely. So here then are our Top 10 ways of entertaining the children this year. 1) Bobbing Apples - There is one way you're bound to have a huge amount of fun, set up bobbing apples. If you're not familiar with the rules, I shall explain: Firstly you fill a clean bucket, or a washing bowl full of water, and then you place in about half a dozen apples, each person must then take it in turns to dive their head into the bucket and retrieve an apple only using their mouth. 2) Chocolate in Flour - This works best if the bobbing apples game has been played first. Firstly you fill a bowl with flour and then hide a handful of chocolate squares inside, the aim is that each person must stick their head into the flour and retrieve a piece of chocolate. Undoubtedly it results in a huge amount of mess on the persons face but it's all in the spirit of Halloween. 3) The Guessing Game - A popular Halloween favourite, everyone has heard to the guessing game. You place items such as lychee's, spaghetti and sausages in separate bowls, you then cover them with a cloth and get the children to place their hands in and guess what the different things are. Obviously you say it is eyeballs, worms and a severed finger! 4) The Doughnut Game - The last game I'm going to suggest is the legendary doughnut game; it requires 6 pieces of string and an ample supply of doughnuts. What you have to do is tie the doughnuts up so they are hanging and each player has to try an eat the doughnut off the string, although once again without the use of their hands. Of course it is a race to see who can finish their doughnut first! 5) Fancy Dress - This of course has got to be the best part of any Halloween celebration. Ensure all the kids dress up for a fancy dress competition with prizes for the best person. And with easy to do ideas such as toilet roll for a mummy or a bin bag for a witch, there really is no excuse! 6) Face Paint - No Fancy Dress would be complete without a bit of face paint, so set up your own face painting and let all the kids have a go, it is easy to turn them into witches, ghosts and ghouls without any real work. For a extra special treat, you could let the children do it to each other! 7) Spooky Punch - As for drink, serve a Halloween inspired punch, put in a load of lemonade and fruit juice as well as some strange food colouring if you like and then for the finishing touch – a floating hand. You simply fill a plastic glove with water and then place it in the freezer for a couple of days, when you rip of the plastic you have a floating hand! 8) Funky Food - No Halloween Party would be complete without a selection of witch shaped biscuits, marshmallow ghosts, some ghostly eyeballs and a few severed fingers, all of these are quick and easy to make, and are bound to get a fantastic reaction. If you want to look up recipes they are easy to come by. 9) Pumpkin Carving - It's easy to come by a whole selection of small and cheap pumpkins, why not get each child to get into groups of three give each a pumpkin and have a huge carving competition. Although obviously the children can design it, it's much more recommended if an adult actually carves the design. You didn't want any real severed fingers at the food table. 10) Get Decorating - The final touch of course is to decorate the house. This is an easy and quick trick, just purchase some cheap cobweb material which you can drape everywhere to like realistic cobwebs. A few pumpkins in the window and some fake spiders lurking around and your house is set and ready to go. So if you want a Halloween inside this year, and you're looking to entertain your children without sending them out to trick or treat. Why not use some of our fantastic ideas and throw a Halloween Party? A quick and fun way and you can invite all the parents around as well, and get everybody involved.
