10 Fun Things To Do With Kids In Barcelona

Barcelona has a creative, playful spirit that kids will love when you visit the city. This article will summarize some of the activities that are suitable for families in Barcelona.


1. Parc de la Ciutadella

This is the main park of Barcelona, situated in the center. Parks are always fun places for children to run around! The park has a lake in the center where you can hire a small row boat. South of the lake, there is a large children’s playground with baby swings, climbing structures and sand toys.

2. Barcelona Zoo

The Barcelona Zoo is situated in the Parc de la Ciutadella and contains a collection of some 7,500 individual animals belonging to more than 400 species from all over the world, including primates, tamarins, bottlenose dolphins, big cats, mammals, etc... The zoo has stores, several restaurants, picnic zones, childrens games and dolphins shows.

3. Barcelona Aquarium

L’Aquàrium de Barcelona is the most important marine leisure and education centre in the world concerning the Mediterranean containing a series of 35 tanks, 11,000 animals and 450 different species, an underwater tunnel 80 metres long, six million litres of water and an immense Oceanarium. It offers several children's activities such as workshops, game searching, sleeping and even swimming with sharks!

4. Magic Fountain of Mont Juic

The magic fountain is a spectacular display of colour, light, motion, music and water acrobatics. It is located near Plaza Espanya at the foot of the National Art Museum of Catalonia.

For a panoramic view of the harbor and Barcelona overall, take the cable car (teleferico) across the harbor from Torre St. Sebastia to Plaça de la Armada at the southeastern corner Montjuic Park.

8. Las Ramblas

Las Ramblas is the famous pedestrian street in the centre of the Barri Gotic. The tree-lined streets are colorful and lively, filled with musicians, flower, bird and souvenir stalls, human statues, and throngs of people strolling.

9. Parc Guell

Kids will feel right at home in the Parc Guell, a wonderful park designed by the famous Antoni Gaudia with one of Gaudi’s most beloved creations, “draco,” the mosaic dragon.
