1. Visit the Mangrove Swamps on the Mgeni River

2. Ride along the beachfront in a rickshaw
Whilst in Durban you should ride along the beachfront in a traditional rickshaw. You can’t fail to spot the rickshaw pushers with their huge and colourful head dresses and it is a great way to take in the sights.

3. Watch the stars at Thanda
If you have never experienced the star lit skies in wide open spaces with no light pollution, then you will be amazed at how different they look compared to the skies we see in Europe. For one thing there are far more stars and they seem so much brighter.

4. Enjoy a breakfast in the bush
Eating breakfast in the bush is a special pleasure. You can enjoy the wonderful early sights and sounds whilst enjoying the morning air.

5. Walk in the bush
There is no better way to enjoy the bush than by walking through it, protected, of course, by game rangers. There are so many things to see that are invisible when you use a vehicle and walking is the closest you can get to nature.

6. Drive through the Thanda Nature Reserve
Naturally you will not have travelled all the way to Kwa-Zulu Natal not to drive through the Thanda Nature Reserve where you can experience so many wild animals in their natural surroundings. It is best to avoid mid day when the animals tend to rest, so go for early mornings and evenings to make the most of your trip.

7. Dine in the bush
You have already enjoyed a bush breakfast in the morning, but that experience can be surpassed at dinner. A candlelit dinner in the bush is the perfect romantic experience on your South Africa holiday.

8. Go whale watching
Why not take a boat trip to watch the whales off the South African coast? You can charter a boat and come within just a few tens of meters of these amazing beasts.

9. Visit the famous Zulu Battlefields
On your visit to Kwa-Zulu Natal, visit the famous Zulu battlefields and wander round the old forts located in the arid and rocky landscape. You can take a tour guide who will explain the history, a fascinating experience on your South Africa holiday.

10. Visit the Drakensberg Mountains
This 200 kilometre mountain range is a World Heritage site and the awe-inspiring landscape is fantastic to explore for walkers, or those looking for more adventurous outdoor pursuits including rock-climbing or white-water rafting.
