Sure that old couch may have sentimental value, but do you really want to risk attracting pesky bugs into your home, and providing them a chance to multiply? 6) Keep purses and backpacks away from beds when at all possible, since these critters do like to travel, and they do travel well. 7) Be weary of purchasing furniture second-hand. If you’re not sure where it’s been, don’t buy it. This is especially true for old mattresses. 8) Cover your mattress in a plastic mattress cover to prevent bugs from entering and burrowing. 9) Seal cracks on the interior and exterior of your home. Bugs and ants love these little crevices, which can become a breeding ground for pesky critters. 10) Wash your clothes in the hottest water possible for the fabric, and dry on the highest recommended setting. 11) Don’t throw laundry on the floor, and then wear it. All laundry that touches the floor should be washed. 12) Check bags and suitcases when entering your home to make sure you didn’t bring anything from the outside in with you.
