16 Scary Dvds We Want On Blu-ray
It’s always fun to curl up on the couch with that leftover candy and pop in a few movies over Halloween weekend. This year the scary night is even on a Saturday, so you don’t have to worry about getting up early the next morning (plus there’s that extra hour of setting the clock back). Sure, we’ll cut the industry some slack for not restoring a 1929 horror classic, but since the likes of The Wizard of Oz and Snow White have already been restored, we’re hoping the same could be done for Nosferatu so we can really see all that grayscale shadow detail. We turned to EH’s resident horror movie expert Manuela Rosengard for her favorite goosebumpy flicks, and she provided everything from silent-movie classics to titles you’ve seen dozens of times to favorites from this decade. In previous years we’ve seen some good scary releases coincide with this time of year. Not quite as many this year, but we’ll hold out hope for 2010. Psycho (1960) The master of suspense Alfred Hitchcock took audiences to a new level of fright with this film. No, it’s not a scare-a-minute, but a couple of classic scenes are just as shocking to today’s audience 50 years later. The Exorcist (1973) Another horror classic to scare the jeepers out of parents everywhere. This one’s filmed in true 1970s grittiness, courtesy of director William Friedkin (who did The French Connection a couple of years prior). To put it mildly, The Exorcist has some famed images that you’ll never forget Of course it’s even more entertaining when you’ve got a big-screen TV or dark dedicated theater to help secure a fright-inducing environment. What else helps? We think high definition is obviously the way to go for big-screen entertainment, so you can really see those blood-curdling details as the director meant you to. Thankfully there are many you can find in high-def Blu-ray, bound to keep you on the edge of your seat Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com Review newest blu-ray recorders on our website ReviewBluray.
