In this article I will be writing about the ever popular two day speech courses for stuttering. The availability of a weekend therapy course for people who have a stutter is a welcome addition to the more traditional three and five-day courses.
The two-day courses enable people to attend the stuttering therapy treatment without the need of using their much cherished annual holiday entitlement from their work, time is money as they say and this is especially the case in the current credit crunch.
Prior to attending the two-day stuttering course the course attendee will watch a DVD which has a duration of approximately seventy minutes. This DVD includes a description of each of the “speech rules” techniques that are taught on the course as well as other important aspects of the course. They will then spend time practicing in their home environment whilst awaiting their course date to arrive. Watching the seventy minute DVD and starting the practice side of things is an essential element due to the fact that they are attending a shorter course.
On the first day of the weekend course the speech coach, who is a person who has previously had this type of speech impediment, will briefly explain each of the stuttering cure techniques and will ask the course attendee if they fully understand them all. The speech coach will then answer any questions that have arisen before starting on the practice. The practice continues on the second day, in various guises, before the course attendee return back to their home environment.
