2 Tips On Proper Car Maintenance

Owning a car is no longer a luxury unlike in the sixties. Back then, only the rich could afford a car while we could only manage with our two feet plus will power to get us from point A to B. Things are very much different now where almost every household owns a minimum of a car. With new car models depicting racy and attractive designs regularly entering the market, the consumers are spoilt for choice. However easy and cheap it now becomes to own a car, it is still better to just own one and keep it properly maintained.

Foremost, you must have a very sharp sense of hearing because you can tell from the sounds coming out of the car that the car is either greatly maintained or in a poor condition. One experienced hand used to remind me that for any motor vehicle to run smoothly and have a longer life span, two things must be regularly checked and maintained: the engine oil and the spark plugs.

The engine oil acting as the lubricant ensures that all parts are properly lubricated to minimise wear and tear. If you neglect to maintain this, your car will become very costly on the long run. Over time, the oil becomes dilute due to high temperature. Then its function to lubricate will be affected. It will then not be able to remove pollutants in the engine. It is suggested that you change the oil every 5,000 miles.

A spark plug is a small device which has one end connected to high voltage electricity while the other end towards the combustion chamber has a gap which produces the spark. This spark will then ignite the air gas mixture, and then expand to thus power the car. When you do not change the plugs as scheduled, your car will be overworked and may be difficult to start at times. You should replace the plugs every 48,000 miles.

If you can attend to these points, then the car will serve you faithfully and lighten your burden financially.
