2003 Ford Mustang Svt Cobra Review
In 1993 Ford had a brilliant idea to create a special in-house team that will focus on pure power and performance. They named the group the Special Vehicle Team and for years it was the only one of its kind. Chief engineer for Ford SVT was John Coletti who was able to push out some of the best and most powerful cars on the market. In 2003 Coletti had completed his 10th year in operation of SVT and sold 100,000 high performance cars. This included the SVT Lightning and the fourth generation SVT Cobra Mustang. In order to celebrate this milestone they created one of the highest rated horsepower and torque Mustangs that they could during that time. The total cost of this special edition Cobra was $34,750 with the convertible costing $38,850. The 2003 SVT Cobra Mustang is built with the four-valve aluminum heads that can also be found on the Mustang Mach 1 - but it is also built with an Eaton Roots-type supercharger. This engine pushes out 390 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 390 pound-ft of torque at 3500 rpm. It also comes with a T-56 six speed manual transmission, bigger tires, improved brakes, and stiffer rear spring that can handle more power. The interior is finished with some brushed aluminum accents, heavily bolstered Nudo leather bucket seats, and titanium colored gauges.
