2008 Fantasy Football Cheat Sheet Ppr – Running Backs

In Point Per Reception leagues (PPR Leagues) no position is effected as dramatically by the PPR scoring system as running backs. Wide receivers have a job to catch the ball but some running backs are more efficient in the passing game than others. Here is what we think in our 2008 Fantasy Football PPR Cheat Sheets for Running Backs.

1. LaDainian Tomlinson, San Diego Chargers
2. Brian Westbrook, Philadelphia Eagles
3. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings
4. Steven Jackson, St. Louis Rams
5. Joseph Addai, Indianapolis Colts

The Vikings have stated that they will make a concerted effort to get Adrian Peterson more involved in the passing game but until we see it his stock takes a hit. Not only did LaDainian Tomlinson leapfrog Peterson, but Brian Westbrook did as well. Westbrook is gold in PPR fantasy football leagues averaging a ton of receptions over the past few seasons. St. Louis’ Steven Jackson also ranks very highly on our running back PPR cheat sheets for the same reason.

6. Frank Gore, San Francisco 49ers
7. Marion Barber, Dallas Cowboys
8. Clinton Portis, Washington Redskins
9. Marshawn Lynch, Buffalo Bills
10. Larry Johnson, Kansas City Chiefs

With Mike Martz as the new offensive coordinator in San Francisco, Frank Gore rockets up our 2008 PPR fantasy football cheat sheet with the potential to have a ton of receptions out of the backfield this season. Of the remaining group, only Lynch should be heavily featured in the passing game, but the rest make up for it in yards and touchdowns.

12. Reggie Bush, New Orleans Saints
13. Willis McGahee, Baltimore Ravens
14. Ryan Grant, Green Bay Packers
15. Brandon Jacobs, New York Giants
16. Laurence Maroney, New England Patriots
17. Edgerrin James, Arizona Cardinals
18. Jamal Lewis, Cleveland Browns
19. Willie Parker, Pittsburgh Steelers
20. Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars

New Orleans’ Reggie Bush is a points per reception monster and could potentially wind up in the top five or ten on next year’s PPR cheat sheet with the Saints passing 10% more than any other team in the league. Of the remaining players on the list, keep an eye on Ronnie Brown who is returning from knee surgery. Last season, Brown was the top back for the first 8 weeks before being placed on injured reserve and could be the biggest steal of all the players listed on this PPR cheat sheet.

24. Jonathan Stewart, Carolina Panthers

Rookie Darren McFadden should be heavily featured in the passing game with his great hands, so he could wind up being a big time sleeper and probably the most productive of all the rookie running backs in PPR fantasy football leagues. Jonathan Stewart will be a great rookie back as well but his production in PPR could be limited since he is more of a banger.
