The 3G phones operate in UMTS frequency bands of 850/1700/2100 MHz or 850/1900/2100 MHz. Some people have the misconception that all 3G triband mobile phones are GSM, which is not true. If a phone is 3G, it does not necessarily mean that it is GSM too. However, it is true that almost every 3G phones are EDGE quad band as well.
