3 Beginner Seo Tips For Achieving High Rankings
Step one is to understand the purpose of Search Engine Optimization (SEO). The ultimate goal is to place a website (or pieces of content on other sites) at the top of search engines in an organic, natural, free manner. In essence, SEO sidesteps Pay-Per-Click (PPC) and focuses on achieving high ranking in search engines, thus attracting potential customers searching for particular keywords in Google, Bing, Yahoo, and the other services available. Free traffic = Increased ROI, which is what you want. Secondly, beginner SEOs must realize that, with almost anything, there's a period of trial and error. You won't always get the right meta titles down on the first wing, certain backlinking tactics won't work, social websites can suck -- this is the name of the game. You need to experiment and see what works best for your business/industry. Thirdly, I know I shouldn't be sharing this, but focus on building solid backlinks from relevant, high-ranking websites on a regular basis. This includes the following techniques: blog commenting, forum posting, article submissions, social networking, social bookmarking, submitting press releases and the list goes on. Backlinks from reputable sources are your friend. Lastly, be sure to track your progress and watch your analytics closely. Understanding where you came from and how you got to where you are, or wish to be, is important. I use Google Analytics, Google Webmaster tools, StatPress for WordPress, and a variety of other programs to track Search Engine Optimization efforts on a regular basis, and you should too. I hope this information has been helpful and good luck!
