So you're ready to hit the social networking scene or maybe you already have and it's time to cash in on the Web 2.0 party. I suggest adding between 50-100 friends per day until you have at least two to three thousand friends. 2. Determine who your target market is before you randomly start inviting people to be you friends. The great thing about MySpace is the browse section allows you to pick and choose the characteristics of your friends (i.e. age, location, income range, etc.). You can also use the groups and forums to carefully pick the friends that are more likely to be interested in your offer.

DO NOT stray away from this principle or you will find yourself wasting a lot of time. If you decide that you have a product or service that you want to offer that is unrelated to your target market I recommend setting up another profile for that product or service.

3. Take the time to choose eight to ten people (quality candidates for your offer) that you are going to focus on building deeper relationships with each month. This will allow them an opportunity to get to know, like and trust you before you introduce your product or service. While building these relationships, use the bulletins, groups, forums and comments to subtly expose your product or service to the community. Only use the "Message" option to communicate with people on a personal level until you feel you have built a strong enough rapport to present your offer.
