3 Methods For Getting Rid Of Acne Scars
In the past, scarring has always been difficult to treat. Fortunately, more effective methods have taken treatments to new levels of effectiveness. For some people, getting rid of acne scars is no longer impossible. It has become a reality, and what's more, it's a reality that is immediately and visibly real for them. How is that possible? Let's take a look at some of the methods used in getting rid of acne scars. Dermabrasion. Once considered the gold standard in treating acne scarring, this procedure is now being replaced by newer resurfacing techniques. It's performed at your dermatologist's office. You will be put under anesthetsia while the top layers of your skin are abraded by a quickly rotating wire brush. Microdermabrasion. Is this the same as a dermabrasion? Not at all. This cosmetic procedure is performed in both dermatologist's offices and day spas. A machine discharges very fine aluminum oxide crystals onto your skin. These crystals are then vacuumed away. The removal of surface skin cells is said to improve the appearance of very superficial scars. For the therapy to yield noticeable results, though, it has to performed repeatedly, over a certain period of time. Dermal Fillers. This procedure is used to treat depressed scars. Using dermal fillers, the base of the scar is elevated so that it evens up with the rest of the skin. Fillers usually come in the form of hyaluronic acid, bovine collagen, or fat which has been taken from your own body. The improvement to your scars are not permanent; treatment will have to be repeated periodically. There are many more procedures for getting rid of acne scars. Before you try any of them, though, do your research. When you are better able to consider your options, you empower yourself to make informed decisions.
