3 Simple Steps To Easy Puppy Potty Training

So you’ve just gotten your adorable new puppy and you love him dearly but he keeps mistaking your home for his restroom. You find little doggie presents in the most creative places. Sound familiar?

Well, I’m here to help you solve your puppy’s potty training problems. Most people don’t realize this but potty training a puppy is actually one of the easiest tasks in the whole world.

You don’t need to be a rocket scientist or a certified dog trainer. All you need to be able to do, however, is have a clear understanding of how your puppy works. Once you get this piece down everything else falls into place almost instantly.

Potty training your pup can be done in 3 simple steps.

1) Designate a potty spot for your puppy. A specific single spot that he can go to the toilet on. It’s critical that you use the same spot every single time
.
2) Take him there whenever he needs to relieve himself.

3) Praise him from here to the moon when he does what he’s supposed to do.

Okey dokey that sounds easy enough doesn’t it, just 3 steps. Well then why are you still having so much trouble?

The problem is with step 2. You have no clue when your puppy needs to go to the toilet.

To figure this out the first thing that you need to do is to put the puppy on a regular feeding schedule. You should NEVER just put food down for him to eat at will. Young puppies need to be fed three times a day: morning, noon, and evening.

When fed their bowels move immediately afterwards. This is how puppies works; food in poop out. And it works this way every single time.

As for pee, your puppy will urinate (1) after he plays; (2) after he sleeps; and (3) after he eats. He might urinate at other times, but during these 3 situations your puppy will always pee.

Lastly what should you do if when he accidentally relieves himself in the wrong spot? Very simple, tell him “NO” with a firm tone of voice and then take him to his special potty spot.

Follow these instructions consistently and you’ll find your puppy will be trained in no time flat.
