3 Simple Ways To Keep Your Job Search Organized

If you are in the mist of a job search, I hope you are organized. Organization is one key competent to finding a well-paying and stable job. How can you ensure you are on the right path?

Your Resume or Resumes

It is always a good idea to have all of your resumes in order. Even if you only have one resume, it is vital that this resume is easy to access. When applying for jobs online, you don’t want to spend hours searching for your resume on your computer. Also, you never know when you’ll come across a job opening. Sometimes, it is as simple as spotting a “now hiring” sign in a store window. In this case, it is good to have a printed resume on hand at all times.

Resumes You Sent Out

Another good way to keep your job search organized is to know which resumes you sent out and when. When doing a job search online, you might come across one hundred or more jobs. By the time you apply for a few, do a new search a few days later, apply for more, and so forth it can be hard to remember which jobs you already applied for. While a mistake isn’t a huge deal, you don’t want to mistakenly send your resume out twice. This sends a bad impression (you might be viewed as needy, unprofessional, and unorganized).

Job Interview Dates and Times

Another key way to be prepared in your job search quest is to keep all your dates and times organized. As you know, nothing is worse that showing up late for a job interview or missing one altogether. If you get a job interview, immediately take note of the date and time. This doesn’t leave any wiggle room at all for error.

Now that you know which aspects of your job search you should keep organized, how can you do it? You have a number of different options. As you know, technology has come a long way. Many programs, such as Outlook, enable you to store a calendar of appointments online. This or a traditional calendar can work. Keep a running list of all jobs you applied for and check this list if you notice a job listing or a company name sounds too familiar. As for your resume, have printed copies of your resume in a folder. As for the computer, have your resume or resumes stored in a separate folder on your computer for easy access.
