3 Steps To Getting In The Habit Of Exercise

It can be very difficult for many people looking to start an exercise program or lose weight to get into the habit of exercising. It is common to believe there simply isn't enough time for exercise, however you may be surprised how much more time you have when you start sticking to a regular schedule.

When you get in the habit of exercise, exercise no longer seems like a chore or obligation, but just a regular part of your regular routine. It becomes automatic, such as getting dressed in the morning or taking a shower. The more you stick to your routine and the more exercise becomes an integral part of your routine, the easier it will be to stay motivated to exercise. Staying motivated to exercise will help you stay committed to living a healthier lifestyle and losing weight.

Here are some tips to make exercising a regular habit:

1. Schedule It: If you are one of the many bust people with a hectic schedule, sometimes scheduling it into your regular week is the only way you will ever have time for exercise. Starting off with 30 minutes three times a week of exercise is a good start, so choose three blocks of time in your schedule where you can exercise. You can make time for exercise by waking up earlier, exercising during your lunch break at work, or even before dinner.

2. Stick to the Schedule: Once you have planned which days you will exercise, stick to those days and those days only! For example, you could designate Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays to exercising. Exercising only on those days will help you stick to your routine better. When Tuesday rolls along for example, you'll know that is exercise day.

3. Keep Track: Keeping track of your progress is very important. Not only will it help you affirm your new exercise routine, but it will also help you see what progress you are making. If you do not keep track of when you exercise, you may forget to exercise or think you're not really making any progress when you actually may be. Keeping an exercise log or a calendar can help you stick to your exercise goals.

These three simple steps will help you greatly in getting in the habit of exercise. The more exercise becomes a daily and regular part of life, the easier it is for you to stick to your fitness program and stay motivated to be healthier and lose weight.
