3 Things Beginners Can Do To Succeed In Business For Themselves

We all know what it's like, the daunting starting in business can be: you have the unenviable task of getting organised, finding prospective clients, having systems in place, getting your mindset in place and then sorting out your workspace so you can do it all, I mean where to start?

Well the whole point of this article will be to give you a way to organise your head and activities so that you can prioritise what needs to be done, by using the 3 simple steps outlined in this article you'll increase productivity, cut costs (time and money) and ultimately have more fun, I mean that's what you started this for isn't it?

• Tip 1: at the end of the day draw up a list of the most important tasks to do the next day, delegate these the night before and not first thing in the morning, you'll feel much better going to bed on a clear head and wake up rested for the next day.

Number the list in order of priority; most urgent and important jobs get done first, down to least important and urgent. If you can try and get the boring stuff that you don't like doing out the way first, it's done and dusted and it means you have the fun stuff to do at the end (unless of course the fun stuff is priority). For me I hate paperwork, I love sales and coaching people, therefore unless I don't have any business I get my paperwork done first.

• Which leads me onto tip 2; Adhere to the list NO MATTER WHAT! This is a phrase you should repeat to yourself, NO MATTER WHAT. If it isn't then the likely hood is something will disrupt and distract you. Remember if it's not a life or death situation or will impact on your life in a devastating way the it isn't urgent or important.

• Tip 3: Handle interruptions effectively; simple yet one part that isn't done as well as the other 2 tips. Hell I remember losing hours chatting to business colleagues about mating habits of jungle animals only to realise I'd lost valuable client building time, lesson learnt!

So next time something interrupts you ask your self this "Is this more important than what I'm doing now?

If yes, deal with it!

If no, add it to the list!

So there you have it 3 tips to get you into prioritizing what you're doing. Also along those lines the following priorities work really well for how to prioritize your business:

1. Anything that earns revenue, with that yours and everybody else's future is secure.

2. Helping somebody else.

3. Dealing with problems.

Again simple but effective, the way I like it. Now try and treat each day like that and have some fun playing around with this.
