3 Tips For Better Article Marketing Results

Article marketing is an incredibly effective way to help brand your website, create valuable backlinks and reach your target audience. Today, there are many different types of software and services available to assist in your writing efforts ranging from content creation to article distribution. This makes it easy to not only write articles quickly and easily, but also enables you to submit them to as many different places as possible.

While this is a fantastic way to market your products and get your name out there, there are a few mistakes that people commonly make. Here are three essential tips for effective article marketing that will help you maximize your efforts and get the most "bang for your buck" for the articles you produce.

Focus on the real reason for writing articles

Many article writers seem to focus on getting backlinks and promoting themselves and forget the real reason for writing in the first place - to educate your readers. That doesn't mean you need write a comprehensive or exhaustive guide with every article. Quite the contrary, write enough to give your readers a taste of what you have to offer, and leave them wanting more. Make your articles informative and helpful and you'll establish yourself as an expert in your niche. Soon you'll find that people interested in your topic will begin to seek you out.

Effective article marketing through the use of keywords

While it's easy to submit your article to hundreds or thousands of directories, it really does no good if no one can find them. Do your keyword research thoroughly before you start writing. There are 2 reasons for this. First, you want to make sure that people are actually searching for the keyword(s) you choose. Second, you're going to want to include these keywords in your articles to help them rank higher in the search engines.

When writing your article, be sure to include your keyword in the title, first paragraph and last paragraph, at a minimum. Most experts recommend a keyword density of 2-4%. Any more than that starts to look spammy. There are several free places on the internet to check keyword density.

Also make sure to use your keywords as anchor text in the links you are allowed to put in the author's resource box.

Create Quality Content

Many article writers make the mistake of writing low quality content because their only interest is in obtaining as many backlinks as possible. While getting lots of links is important, writing poor quality or spammy content isn't the best way to do it. Many article directories are strict about the content they accept and will reject an article that doesn't measure up to their standards. Even if you do manage to get a poor quality article approved, it's likely that the content will never be picked up for use by other webmasters.

Many website owners search article directories in order to add content to their own sites. If a site owner uses your content, the resource box with your own site links will be at the end of the article. This means additional backlinks for you. If your content is poorly written, uninformative and full of grammatical or spelling errors, chances are no one else will ever want to use it.

Always write articles that are well researched and provide good, quality information. If you're not up to snuff on spelling or grammar, have someone proofread your article before submitting to the directories.

Article marketing can be one tool in your arsenal that produces great results with a little effort on your part. Effective article marketing isn't rocket science, but there are some things you need to pay attention to. Following these tips, you'll be well on your way to being a successful article marketer.
