Just like building people's homes, a good set of hen ark plans is required to make sure that it is built correctly, with low, cost, time and effort. But before you begin, here are some tips on how to get started.

Tip#1 Check Out the Laws

Before you even pick up a hammer, you need to know the laws and ordinances you city or county has concerning keeping livestock. And with city governments losing money everyday, don’t think they will look the other way if they catch you.

Tip #2 Don’t Settle on the First Set of Plans You See

Tip #3 Know Where You Will Build

Now, when I say “where” I mean physical location and climate. The size of you land will determine how big you can build the hen ark. You cannot build on a larger area than you have. I mean if you want to build a 100 square foot ark but only have 50 square feet of space, then building the 100 square foot ark is out of the question. Also, the climate affects what materials you can build with. You wouldn’t want to build a wooden ark in a wet climate because the ark will rot. Likewise, you wouldn’t want to build a metal ark in a warm climate because the coop would get too hot for the hens. So, you location will determine what hen ark plans will suit you.
