3 Tips On How To Padlock Your Identity

Everyday in my office I get countless people who have had their identity taken or stolen from them. This is an ongoing problem in todays society, with no signs of letting up especially with the state of the economy. Their are three key tips to help padlock your identity I will reveal to you in this article. To keep your identity from being stolen you should never give your credit card number on the phone. Do not use bank atm's. Only shop online with secure sites. Your identity can be safe if dont give your card number over phone, use only bank atm's, and shop online at secure sites.

1) Never Give Out your Credit Card Number over the Phone:
The day age scam is to get your credit card number over the phone. Usually these telemarkets call an unsolicited list of numbers offering gift cards, magazine subscriptions, and various items. The catch to this they require you to pay for the shipping and handling of the items. I got one of these calls last week, I simply hung up on them. Now ususally after you give them your number for the free offer the catch is you are paying for the shipping each time if its a magazine subscription, or cupon service club. After awhile, some unauthorized charges appear on your card and your identiy has been lifted.

2) Only Use Bank ATM's
ATM's are everywhere nowadys you can find them in malls, gas stations, on street blocks. This is good and bad. Good your able to have access to my money at anytime. Bad for the fact that all these atm's are not bank sponsored meaning they have a higher fees, and keep your number in the computer system. So to keep your atm card safe from hackers stick to bank atms such as Bank of America and Wachovia.

3) Shop Online with Secure Sites
Everybody loves to shop online it is so convenient and easy to do. When you shop online you are in the greatest danger of having your identity stolen. The only way to padlock your identity online is to make sure you shop from sites with "https:" in the web browser this proves the site is secure for transactions. If that is not in the browser your identity is at greater risk from computer hackers with special homemade programs to get your identity especially if you are using a credit card.

In conclusion if you follow these 3 tips your identity will stay safe guarded from predators. These simple tips will save you money and keep your having to come to my office.
