Renting your very first apartment is not an easy task as you do not know much about the renting process. Furthermore, since this will be your first experience in renting apartments, it is normal for you to unaware what the process is. As a student, you may have your parents, relatives or even friends to search an apartment for you, but not everyone has the knowledge to do so. If you are under such situation, you may think that the task to rent apartments is almost impossible. So, here are some tips for you to get yourself a rented apartment.

1. Determine the amount of money that you would most likely willing to pay for the apartment’s rental or you can make a budget list too. Decide on which type of apartment that you could rent based on your budget. Some advertisements will indicate the price that you will need to pay. Call the owner and try to negotiate with him. There are a lot of ads online, but beware as some of the ads are scam ads. If you were asked for personal details when you were just enquiring, do not bother replying back. It might be a scam. Therefore, you are advised to search for another ad instead.

2. Check on your new landlord or any agency’s reputation to make sure that they do not have any complaints against them. Survey and ask around, neighbours or those people who have rented the house before. Besides that, make sure that the facilities around the apartment area can be accessed easily. For instance public transportation, walking routes, market, restaurants and etc.

3. If you do not have enough money to rent an apartment on your own, you might want to consider in getting yourself a roommate. There are several aspects that you need to consider regarding this matter, such as space allocation, cleanliness, cleaning duties and etc.
