3 Unique Percussion Instruments
1. Musical Bones Bones are some of the oldest percussion instruments known to humankind. Many are made from the rib bones of sheep or goats. Others are made of wood or possibly stone. They are played while being cradled in one hand, with the hand's motion providing a pendulum effect. 2. Bodhrans A bodhran is a type of Irish drum that is very popular in contemporary Celtic folk music. The drum is crafted of a wooden frame, with animal hide covering one side. Either a stick called a tipper or a hand is used to play the drum. Many bodhrans are decorated with traditional Celtic designs that are handpainted on the hide. 3. Steel Drums Steel drums have been a fixture of Caribbean music for many years, especially music originating from Trinidad and Tobago. These drums are usually crafted from oil drums and are designed to play multiple pitches. These drums are also commonly called pans.
