3 Ways To Improve Your Travel Agency Website
Images are a vital part of any travel agency business website. People want to look at images of the spectacular places that your travel agency will transport them to. There are a few things that you should keep in mind when using images on your free website. • Use professional photos that are bright and attractive with a clear focal point. You want your locations to be looking their best in the photographs to encourage people to book their vacation with you. • Make sure your images are of a low resolution. High resolution images will slow your free website down. And they will take a long time to load. There is no point in having beautiful, professional photos when your visitors won’t stick around to wait for them to load. Your images should be no more than 72ppi (pixels per inch). Content Writing great content is so important for a successful website. Your images might entice your visitors but it is your text that will get them to book their vacation. Sloppy, badly proof-read text will make you appear unprofessional and if you are unprofessional on your website, your visitors will assume that you are unprofessional in general. Some tips for improving your content: • Use simple, direct language. It’s important that you use language that anyone can understand. Don’t try to sound clever or be abstract. • Proofread! To help with your proofreading you could print out your text and read it on a page. It’s amazing how much that simple thing can help with your proofreading – you’ll see your text from a quite different perspective. You could also get a colleague, friend or family member to proofread as well. This should help to pick up on anything that you have missed. • Include a Call to Action. A Call to Action is a phrase in urgent language that spurs your visitor on to make the next step. You might use a phrase like “Book Now!” or “Call Now for a Quote!” People like to be told what to do! Design A clear, consistent, logical design is vital for your website. If you are using a free business website template or a Flash template a lot of this will be taken care of for you. But it’s important to keep these design tips in mind: • Make sure your navigation remains in the same place throughout the site. Don’t force your visitors to have to search around for what they want. Navigation is for navigating – it should be easily available or it’s pretty pointless. • Keep your branding and color scheme consistent throughout. It’s fairly standard now for websites to have their logo at the top left or right. If you have your logo there make sure it is clickable, taking your visitor back to the homepage. • Look at other travel agency websites for inspiration and ideas. Obviously you won’t want to copy another website completely but you can borrow different design elements that you like.
