325 Reasons For Magnesium's Enormous Health Power

Magnesium is extremely important to every organ in the body. It is found to be involved in, according to neurosurgeon Dr. Blaylock, 325 biochemical reactions of the body. Good research has demonstrated a deficiency in 80% of the population of the United States.

Magnesium is extremely important for cardiovascular health. It plays a significant role in protecting heart, blood vessels and the brain. In the laboratory it was found that cells with low magnesium aged much quicker.

Longevity is diminished when optimal amounts of magnesium are not present. Aging diseases such as cardio-vascular disease, metabolic syndrome...a precursor to diabetes 2, some cancers, Parkinson's, and osteoporosis all appear to be increased by low magnesium levels.

Magnesium regulates heartbeat, lowers blood pressure, relaxes cramped muscles and can stop acute asthmatic attacks. It works with calcium for optimum function of muscles. Without adequate amounts of magnesium and calcium, cramping of muscles occurs.

Not a lot of magnesium is required in many of the body's biochemical reactions because it acts as a catalyst; nonetheless a deficiency will be the weak link that breaks the chain of events in your body's biochemistry.

Besides being essential to many chemical reaction of the body it is a necessary component of a powerful anti-inflammatory agent. It is very important in raising the glutathione levels.

Glutathione is a most important anti-oxidant and anti inflammatory in your body. It plays a big role in energy levels for the body. It also regulates neurotransmitters that affect many hormones, powerfully regulating chemistry of the body. Magnesium is essential to glutathione function.
General and brain health rely upon optimal amounts of it.

Magnesium is necessary in the energy chain for virtually all cells of the body. It is necessary for energy by acting as a catalyst in the production or release of ATP (adenosine-tri-phosphate...cellular fuel). The heart needs and uses more energy in the form of ATP than any other organ. When magnesium is deficient, the heart suffers and the body languishes, cardiovascular disease accelerates.

Magnesium activates enzymes that are part of energy production, yielding ATP as well a regulating calcium levels (especially in muscles...preventing cramps) plus regulating copper, zinc, potassium, vitamin D (bone and immune function) and many other important functions of the body.

A deficiency in 8 out of 10 people is common because of too many carbonated drinks, too much coffee, excess salt and alcohol. Diuretic drugs for fluid excretion and lowering blood pressure diminish levels of magnesium.

Dr. Blaylock and other medical doctors often prescribe supplements containing 400 mg to 1000 mg of the organic form (with "ate" on the end). It is important to keep a mineral balance because too much of one mineral can produce deficiencies of others. Balanced supplements and supervision by medical doctors is recommended.

Magnesium is extremely important in cardiovascular health. It plays a significant role in protecting heart, blood vessels and the brain. In the laboratory it was found that cells low in magnesium aged much quicker.

Aging diseases such as cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome...precursor of diabetes 2, some cancers, Parkinson's, and osteoporosis all appear to be accelerated by a magnesium deficiency.

Numerous studies demonstrated that not only cardiovascular disease increases with magnesium deficiencies but also migraine headaches are frequently caused by magnesium deficiencies.

Here are some diseases that have a relationship with magnesium deficiencies:
" Asthma
" ADHD
" Diabetes II
" Fibromyalgia
" Heart disease
" Hypertension
" HIV
" Inflammatory bowel disease
" Infertility
" Menopause
" Osteoporosis
" PMS
" Stroke
" Migraine headaches
" Some cancers

What to do about it? A good multivitamin supplement which has the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of magnesium prescribed for good health should be taken. This mineral is best assimilated by taking it (in the vitamin complex) with green foods and also with meats.

Just because a little is good, a lot is not better. Too much magnesium can cause diarrhea and can upset the balance of other minerals such as calcium, zinc and copper. Do not load up on it! Dr. Julian Whitaker recommends a supplementation of 400 to 500 mg daily.

A higher dose may by indicated, as sometimes recommended by Dr. Blaylock. He is not afraid to prescribe 1000 mg per day, which is four times the RDA. This seems to have merit if high doses of carbonated beverages, caffeine, excessive salt, heavy menstruation or...anything that depletes body fluids...including and especially diuretic drugs, are consumed. If you start getting diarrhea with supplementation, you are probably getting too much magnesium.

Other than a standard, scientifically formulated multi vitamin mineral supplement, you should be supervised by a doctor who knows from testing what your level of magnesium is and what is needed to balance it.
