3d Tv Going Nowhere Until Now

We all thought 2010 would be the year that took our TV's to the new level of 3-dimentional digital technology due to Avatar's immense success; well we thought wrong! Despite the resent spike in 3D movies at the theatre, the lack of standards in 3D TV's has weakened sales. As of now, the spectacle remains to be seen in theatres only for those who don't get massive headaches from occasional blurring. All of this might change very soon as Toshiba has unveiled one of a kind 3D TV without the glasses technology. Although it might seem like ancient technology soon due to the number of flaws surrounding glasses-less TVs at the moment, they will catch on fast enough to make it all worth the wait.

Ideally, a viewer can sit at home and watch the 3D TV without having to buy separate content, spending hundreds of additional dollars. If our new televisions want to make a lasting impact like when we switched from radio to black and white tube beasts, then they have to minimize the costs and adopt firm standards! "Oh, we're sorry but these glasses won't work with your TV set" - just won't cut it in a tech-driven world that we live in today. In a few years we'll all be sitting in front of our crazy life-like entertainment centers with images popping out of our screens and reaching behind our ears if only the manufacturers stick to some shared principles. Toshiba may start the visual revolution but it won't be won by a long shot just yet, nevertheless the first step is welcomed by many consumers.

Normally the hot new tech of the year is a hit and sales boom. We've just experienced that with new flat screen sets but it may take a bit longer for consumers to get tired of their "old" technology and go with the new three-dimensional stuff. I anticipate the new stuff as seen from Toshiba will undergo massive changes in the next couple of years and really hit the market within three to four years. The company is most likely to gain a bunch of new competitors by that time and we all know how fast competition propels innovation.
