2. Come up with a workable plan of action. If you have a specific goal, you must find ways to achieve it. You can do this by creating a good plan that is specific to your objectives. For instance, if your goal is to finish your college degree a suitable plan should be to devote 6-8 hours of every day studying and completing your academic requirements, taking all the required units and passing them all.

If your goal is achieve a gold medal in a sports competition, then your plan of action must be to undergo training everyday for at least 2-6 hours, watch your diet and nutritional intake and study the strategies of your sport. This only implies that a specific goal is just a goal unless you have a specific and concrete plan that goes well with it.

3. Be S.M.A.R.T. in achieving your goals. Take the time to study your goal and your plan. Make sure that they complement each other. By being S.M.A.R.T., this means that you must ensure that your goal and plans are S-specific, M-measureable, A-attainable, R-realistic and T-time bound.

For instance, your goal is to lose weight the healthy way. A S.M.A.R.T. plan should be to lose at least 3 pounds of your body weight per week by doing aerobic exercises and weight training 4 times per week and 1-2 hours per session; reducing your caloric intake to about 1,200 calories per day and tracking your progress each week for one month. After one month, you should have lost at least 12 pounds.

4. Lastly, develop the right attitude. This is probably the most challenging part when you are working your way towards achieving your goals.
