4 Time Management Plan Tips
Well, in this instance, the old saying of, “Failure to plan, is planning to fail,” could not be any more true. You see, I understand it’s completely possible to get lucky at times and find success, but I promise you that the success that you’re experiencing will be short lived and if you plan to expand your success your journey will be filled with surprises and met with great unpredictable circumstances. I mean, think of it this way, if luck was the best and most effective way to build on your foundation for success, wouldn’t gambling at the casinos in Atlantic city be the most popular and most profitable profession. This is almost exactly the same idea with time management. If you work all day without a solid time management plan to follow, wouldn’t your performance be solely based on how “lucky” you were that particular day? This method of working is one that I would not use and one that many effective people would not either. So what is a time management plan? On the most basic level, it is a plan which consists of steps to serve as your means of achieving your desired objective in the shortest possible time. In the past, it has been recorded that the most influential and successful people of our time have applied management plans and in fact, would not work if they did not have one. For most people, it has been their only way to be productive or achieve any results. Simply by writing your tasks out on paper or on a computer you've put yourself in a great position to become productive. Doing this ensures that you're making the most out of your time and using it to get you optimal results. If you’re comfortable with your technical skills then I suggest you leverage the power of technology using the software available on the internet. If you’re not aware, a time management software is extremely valuable because it allows you to quickly develop your personalized plan catered specifically to your needs and tendencies, while even tracking your progress along the way. Most people often say that it's a lot more effective, reliable, and convenient when it comes to completing tasks and getting actual results. The free time management plan software that many successful people and even everyday people, like you and I, use are: 1.) iCal This is a personal calendar software created by Apple for Mac users and has all the functions you would need to keep yourself on task and focused. It even comes with an alarm that you can program to let you know when you have to start a new task or project. It’s really cool. In my opinion this software gives most of the paid time management systems out there on the market a good run for their money and if you're a Mac user you already have what you need to maximize your time, for free. 2.) Google Calendar Windows Calendar is a calendar application, similar to iCal except it is made specifically for Windows. With this software you are able to fully personalize your calendar by putting in your daily tasks along with reminders and alerts. This is also a free and is included as a default software. If you're not familiar with them it pays to get acquainted to because it is just as effective as the paid tools you can find online. The two software listed below are free software tools that were created to lessen the amount of distraction in your life and improve your level of productivity. Using them alongside your time management plan will prove to be highly effective. 3.) Evernote: Evernote is a highly useful free software designed for notetaking and archiving any and all important information, pictures, records, etc. You can use Evernote to save your ideas, things you see, and things you like. Then you can find them all later on, on any computer, phone or device you use. All for free. Since this tool allows me to capture and save what I want it helps me “remember everything” (as their motto claims) from pictures, documents, names of important websites, phone numbers, emails, the list goes on. 4.) Rescue time A web-based time management and analytics tool that allows you to voluntarily block the distracting parts of the internet for a period of time you specify, pause tracking, set up automated scheduling, or selectively delete tracked data. You can even eliminate timesheets by manually assigning blocks of your day to specific projects and let Rescue Time fill in the details. If you forget to assign project time, Rescue Time gives you an easy overview of your time to help you fill in the blanks. Okay, so I hope you found some value in the four different time management plan software that I explained above. They are all highly effective, so make sure you use them all. Or at least use one. But, keep in mind, no matter what software you use, it is only as valuable as the time and focus you apply to it. Simply looking at it in amazement and thinking about what it can do will get you no where. You must use it. Only then will you see the effectiveness of the software.
