These are the common problems why majority of the people fail diets. Consciously or unconsciously people come up with anything that can get them out off anything that is uncomfortable for them. Diets are usually associated with pain because it entails giving up the ability to eat whatever you want whenever you want. Self sabotage happens constantly in our regularlives especially in diet and fitness programs. Generally the more fun, more benefits, least effort, we can make these things to be, the more we can comply on the new diet program on a long-term basis. Below are the common causes of diet failures:
You feel starved -- Diets that restrict certain types of food groups for prolonged periods of time are simply not practical and are unhealthy. Dieting is not synonymous with starvation.
Expensive diets -- Diets requiring special meals, shakes, supplements become impractical on a longer-term that's why people find reasons and excuses to get out of them. If money is not an issue for you and you like and at this specific type then stay with it. If money IS an issue then you have to find a cheaper diet alternatives.
Results stop happening -- Plateauing is a common phenomena as your body adapt to your new food shortage conditions. Our body are evolutionary designed to cope and survive with whatever resources we are presented with. One solution to this is to get a dynamic exercise program that constantly challenges your body systems, preventing it from settling, and retaining unpredictability.
You put on pounds quicker -- Restrictive diets slow down your metabolism somewhat, so when you stop your diet, and return to your old habits or regular eating patterns pre-diet, you'll gain fats quicker with your newly-slowed-down metabolism. A strategy to counter this is to have a long-term diet strategy that takes the fact.
You are too discouraged to go back to dieting -- you tried several types diets in the past and have failed miserably. This is caused by so many things: maybe because you lacked commitment back then? The diet simply did not work? The diet is incompatible with your body type perhaps?
It's normal to have apprehensions and hesitations if you're trying to get back on a new diet program. All humans are hardwired to avoid pain and disappointment, which is why your unconscious mind may prevent you from getting back on another diet, or staying with it! Learn from your past mistakes, identify what doesn't work and what does!
