5 Critical Steps On How To Create An Online Business
Step 1: The Right Market Idea
The first step for any business is to have a product or service which, will satisfy the need of your potential customers. So, identify the need of you consumers FIRST and THEN you can find a product that satisfies their needs. Many beginners make the common mistake of finding the product first and then trying to sell it.
If you find a niche, and realise there is some competition in the area, don’t get discouraged. The internet has evolved so much over the years that for almost every market you participate in, you are bound to have some competition. Usually if there isn’t any competition, I would be wary of the potential earning power of the niche. Ideally you would like to be in a market where there are many competitors who are executing their business poorly.
Find a way to differentiate yourself from your competition. Identify your unique advantage and present the best possible case to your customers to pick you instead of the competition.
Step 2: Diversify You Products
Which scenario would you prefer, 1 product earning $40,000 monthly or 10 products earning $4,000 monthly? It is always better to develop a larger suite of products rather than to count on one single product to deliver a “big win”. If you only have one product, you would run into serious trouble if the product is a flop, or is out-of-date. But if you have 10 products, there is a good chance that even if 2 or 3 of them fail, you would still have a steady stream of income from the other remaining products. Not to mention out of those 10 products, 1 or 2 of them might end becoming big winners anyway!
Step 3: SELL!, SELL!, SELL!
Making money online is all about selling. Since, you don’t interact with your customers directly as you would a conventional store, your copyright will have to do the selling for you. Copywriting is a critical skill you have to master if you would like to do well in an online business. Even if you have the highest PPC bid or spend ridiculous amounts of money on advertising, if your ad copy is poor, no one is going to buy your product. You have to SELL yourself, convince people to trust you. You HAVE to SELL people on the idea of joining your list and most importantly, you have to SELL your product or service is better than anything else out there. If you don’t want to sell, then an online business is something you should reconsider.
Step 4: Buyers NOT Traffic
Beginners tend to make the mistake of paying large amounts of money for Traffic. Now doesn’t that seem like a good idea? More traffic equals More Sales right? Not always! A good business owner is not looking to generate traffic, he is looking to generate buyers. There is no point in generating 100,000 hits which do not generate any purchases. Business owners would rather generate 50 hits that result in 25 purchases. The conversion rate depends highly on the quality of the leads you are using. The higher the quality of your leads, the more targeted your audience. The more targeted your audience, the higher the probability that they will purchase your product.
Step 5: Building Your Team
Although you would prefer to run your business devoid of any employees, there are still certain less productive functions which you need to leverage the expertise of others. In most cases it is fairly easy to outsource these functions. Functions that tend to be outsourced are:
• Website Modifications
• Daily Marketing Functions
• Email Correspondence
• Customer Support Functions
You want to spend as much time working on business critical issues. The more you leverage and outsource these functions, the more time you will have to grow your business.
