5 Currency Trading Basics To Know Before Your First Trade
There is a common misconception among new Forex traders that trading is easy. It certainly is easy to click the "Execute" button when entering a trade. However, these same traders soon learn the difficulty of achieving consistent profits over time. Below are 5 currency trading basics that every new Forex trader should understand before embarking on their trading journey: Forex trading is highly risky, especially for the beginner. Trade with risk capital only, meaning money you can afford to lose. You don’t want to be in a position where you lost the rent money or funds to pay for groceries. Take the time to educate yourself. Don’t just jump right in. Learn the basics of the Forex market and how to perform fundamental & technical analysis. Every trader must go through this learning curve. Trade with a plan. Write it down. This plan outlines your trading strategy, which includes your entry, stop-loss, and take-profit criteria. It also dictates your money management rules (i.e., how much capital to risk on every trade). Having a plan promotes disciplined trading, which is essential to success. Otherwise, you’ll likely succumb to your emotions when trading. And speaking of emotions… Remember that Forex trading is not gambling. Gambling involves outcomes based on pure luck. Forex trading involves analysis and probabilities of outcome. Of course, winning is never guaranteed. However, when you assess that entering a trade has a high probability for profit, you gain a “winning edge”. Test every strategy before fully committing to it. I’m not a big fan of demo accounts offered by many forex brokers. I don’t believe they fully replicate the reality of the forex market. Instead, it would be prudent to test your strategy on a live micro account. This way, you’re subjecting your trading plan under real-life market conditions, yet you’re only risking pennies instead of dollars. By understanding these basics of Forex trading, you will be in a better position to successfully trade the Forex markets. Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com About Author: |
