5 Day Speech Course For Stuttering

In this article I am going to be writing about the famous five day speech courses for stuttering and stammering. These courses are becoming ever more popular as people realise that they no longer have to accept living life with this form of speech impediment.

Until only a few years ago the only available therapy option for people who have a stutter was via their local speech and language therapist, this unfortunately is a therapy that is unable to provide people with the fluency that they desire. But with no other options available, people had to accept and take what they could get in the way of stuttering therapy, anything is better than nothing – or was it?

I know all too well just how frustrating it can be to attend speech and language therapy as I attended this form of stuttering treatment for fully fourteen years, with no success, in fact I would have to say that my own stutter became even more severe during this period. I expected to improve after receiving speech therapy for fourteen years and certainly never thought that my speech would become worse.

Fortunately things have improved some what and people are now able to attend specialist treatment courses for stuttering and stammering. The main course is over a five-day period and is run by a person who is a former stutterer.

At the start of the course the speech coach welcomes the course attendee and gives a brief introduction, starting with a description of how he managed to overcome his own stutter and then moving on to explaining about the content of the course. The course attendee is then invited to talk a little bit about themselves and about the type of stutter that they have.

The speech coach will then spend the next day and a half describing the stuttering cure techniques before moving onto the practice side of things.

At the end of the course the course attendee returns home with a seventy-minute DVD which includes the back bone of the course content, this acts as a reminder of what happened during the course including full descriptions of those all important stuttering treatment techniques for the future.
