5 Easy To Grow Plants For Your Garden

There are so many choices when it comes to easy to grow plants for your garden. The best idea is to check out what’s available online at gardening shops like Spring Hill Nurseries and Gurney's Seed and Nursery. Meanwhile, here are five good plants to get you started:

1. Mint

This hardy perennial comes in many different varieties, from spearmint to lemon mint to chocolate mint. It also thrives in all types of soils, and full sun to part shade. In fact, if you’re not careful, one plant will take over your garden. Avoid this by planting in containers.

2. Strawberries

Not only are strawberries tasty, but the plants are beautiful weaving through the garden. Plant them in spring or late fall in full sun and well-drained soil.
3. Black-Eye Susan

This hard-working flower can be short or tall, but planted in full sun, it will grow in rain or drought, providing armloads of beautiful yellow, orange and brown blooms.

4. Grape Hyacinth

Also called Muscari, this perennial bulb self-sows readily, especially in woody areas or meadows with good soil. The flowers reappear in early spring and look like upside-down bunches of grapes, giving the plant its name. They generally need very little care.

5. Periwinkle

A low-growing, old-fashioned favorite, the periwinkle spreads via woody vines covered in tiny violet or white flowers. Because of its nature, periwinkle is particularly useful as a ground cover or grown along rock ledges or walls. It blooms from mid-spring to fall.
