1. The 500 Hats of Batholomew Cubbins - is a story about a poor boy, named Bartholomew Cubbins, who lives in the kingdom of Didd. He is on the street when King Derwin rides through. As it was custom to do so in the day, Bartholomew takes off his hat as the king rides by. After Bartholomew removes his hat another one appears on his head. Each time he removes a hat another one appears in its place. Eventually he is threatened with death. Finally, when Bartholomew removes his 500th hat no other hat appears. The king loves the 500th hat so much that he offers Bartholomew 500 gold coins for it, which Bartholomew accepts.
2. Daisy-Head Mayzie - is about Mayzie, a schoolgirl, that sprouts a big, yellow daisy on her head. This causes her classmates to tease her and her family becomes worried about her. Eventually the daisy on her head makes Mayzie a celebrity and soon she learns that love and friendship are more important than fame.
3. How the Grinch Stole Christmas - is the story about the Grinch, a creature with a small heart that lives on Mount Crumpit high above Whoville, home of the Whos. The Grinch is jealous of the Whos and their merry Christmas festivities so he "steals" Christmas from them. Much to his dismay, the lack of presents and decorations do not stop the Whos from celebrating and he learns that Christmas is about fellowship. His heart grows normal sized and he is invited to live in Whoville.
4. I Had Trouble Getting to Solla Sollew - is a story about a young person who realizes the troubles of life and tries to escape them. He travels to Solla Sollew, a city with no troubles, but realizes that a Key-Slapping Slippard lives there and he cannot get in. The young person soon learns that everywhere you go there will be some trouble or another and it is best to just face them.
5. Thidwick the Big-Hearted Moose - is about a moose that allows creatures to live on his antlers. He eventually has so many creatures living on his antler that some of them will not let him move with his heard. Eventually some hunters decide they need his antler to mount on the wall. Thidwick is trapped by the hunters. Luckily, Thidwick realizes it is antler shedding season and he sheds his antlers leaving the creatures to be stuffed by the hunters.
