5 Reasons Why Your Customers Want You To Call On Them

Many of us who are owners of small businesses are concerned about calling or mailing or emailing our present and former customers and clients. Some of the “reasons” for this are:
“We are a one product shop, and they've already bought from us”
“If we keep bugging them they'll get upset with us.”
“We just sold them one of our best widgets and now we need a new customer.”
“They know everything we sell and they'll call us when they want more from us.”
“If we keep bugging them, they'll think we're desperate for money, or just out to make sales.”

These are all reasonable sounding excuses to not go back to present and sell to our present and past customers and clients, but they are all wrong-headed.

People who have done business with us before, are our business! We've already done the marketing and advertising and prospecting, and ended up doing business with these people. Now that we've done that, the rest is easy, because all we have to do now is continually and consistently find ways to ask them to do more business with us.

Why would they want to do that? Here are 5 reasons. There are probably more.

They already know you and have used your product or service.

They already trust you because they know you deliver on your promises.

They want to do business with you again, because of 1 and 2.

They know it's easier to work with a known supplier than to get to know a new one.

They know you already have their information and a good idea of what they need.

So, rather than concentrating all your efforts on finding new customers for your business, spend at least as much time and effort on asking your previous and present customers and clients to come back and do more business with you. Your revenue and profits will soar in comparison.
