5 Reasons You May Want To Use Parental Internet Controls

Would not it be handy if you ever could use parental internet controls? Several have asked themselves that question, have answered yes, and took actions to accomplish this. For many it is just a passing flicker of thought that never gets anywhere and is soon forgotten. A great number of people never try because they don't know where you start. The aspect of possibly needing to perform a little work puts others off. Others just feel that it's too low a priority to be seriously worth bothering with.

Now just hang on here a moment! Are those reasons actually sufficiently good to base an important decision on? Was any consideration given to the reasons in favor? Was that consideration rational and even-handed? The good things don't seem to have been fully thought through...

That should be reconsidered. Let us look at 5 good reasons to use parental internet controls and get some kind of balanced perspective in the conversation.

To start, the Internet has caused a revolution in the way information on all subjects is distributed. I hear what you are saying when you indicate that it is merely a medium of transmission and not inherently good or evil! That is certainly an intelligent observation. However, consider this; there is a lot of fairly extreme pornography, extreme ideology, religious fanaticism and other bizarre things on the Internet that not everyone should see. To top it all off, we should not forget that not everyone who can see it, wants to see it!

Internet parental controls allow you to filter certain types of content, preventing access by younger family members.

Or you can use it to control when certain type of websites can be viewed, by whom and for how long.

Second, this software also allows you to control which software can be used, and when it can be used. That is really the way it is because many games are not suitable for and not aimed at children. That's truly why, as many have noted, you can get them to finish homework etc without distraction, before allowing them to immerse themselves in World of Warcraft or whatever.

Third, it can be used to put time limits on when a PC can be used i.e. when it can be used. Moreover, allow you to control how many hours a week it can be used by any particular user!

Fourth, it can generate activity reports detailing who uses the PC, how long for, what software they used, for how long for, which websites they accessed, and more.

And lastly, it should offer some form of system protection. It can regulate which users can change files or settings on a PC. Don't want your 7 year old installing or uninstalling software, but maybe you want to allow your 12 year old to do it? This is the software you need to allow this.

Consider each of those reasons in turn, and look at how they have an impact on you. You will be able to understand that a compelling case can be made for starting to find ways to use parental internet controls.

Look them over again and consider all of those particular points. Those identical five reasons won over others. Really, do not they also persuade you to use parental internet controls?
