5 Tips For Putting Your Email Marketing Into Overdrive

Finding a consistently performing, effective and conversion-focused email marketing campaign is difficult. There are ways to enhance your campaigns, however, by using the proper tools and email targeting techniques. Here are a few ways to put your email marketing efforts into overdrive.

Only Provide Useful Content
Simply put, give your readers a reason to read your email and remember your message. Depending on your product or service, you need to tailor your content accordingly. Including a short list of resources, interesting (but short) tips or other content can provide you with an authoritative, valuable feel that can lead to higher conversions and more sales. Content is king in email just as it is on the web.

Avoid Using Spam-happy Words
A good email campaign has to get past two lines of defense: SPAM filters and the email readers themselves. Give your email the best chance of success by avoiding cheesy, sales-pitch words like “Get if Free,” “Limited Time Only,” etc. Instead, use subject lines and phrases that generate awareness without sounding “too good to be true.” Don’t guarantee more than your email can provide and do your best to include content and a subject line that is relevant – there’s no use in sending irrelevant emails that go no further than the trash bin.

Don’t Send Too Many Emails
When you target your readers, it’s a good idea to send emails with restraint. Blasting too many emails in a short time frame will raise an obvious flag and your readers will be tempted to delete them without a second thought. By sending emails too often, your efforts are more likely to be labeled SPAM. You can avoid this with the right amount of patience, diligence and moderation.

Focus on Targeted Readers
Your email campaigns may be completely wasted if they aren’t focused on the right audience. To make sure your messages are going to the most appropriate readers, use permission-based tactics – such as an opt-in form – to generate a list of fascinated parties. You can offer free products online – e-books, free trials, etc. – to attract visitors, but make sure your opt-in forms weed out those who aren’t interested and lure the visitors who are. This will give you a targeted email list that minimizes the number of messages sent to uninterested readers.

Stand Out from the Masses
Every day, hundreds of millions of emails are exchanged and the time you have to capture a reader’s attention is extremely limited. To make your emails stand out from the crowd, do something different to get your readers’ immediate attention. Whether it is a curiosity-piquing subject line or never-before-seen content, it’s necessary to do something unique to get noticed. Thinking outside the box can often point the way to making your efforts inside the inbox worthwhile.
