5 Tips To Consider Before Placing A Sports Bet

A considerable amount of research needs to be done before you can confidently place a sports bet. Here are five tips to consider before losing your bankroll going in ill-prepared:

Be aware of any major injuries for either team. This sort of thing should be done early in the week if you’re betting on Saturdays and Sundays. Keep track of who’s being held out of practices, and if they are, what is their prognosis for the rest of the week. Team’s suffering may not be able to put up as many points with key components of their team on the sidelines.

Check the weather. Although this doesn’t apply to basketball and hockey, the weather can play a significant part in the outcome of a game. When balls become slick and hard to handle, crazy things can happen on the scoreboard.

What are the field conditions? Besides the weather having an effect on the playing surface, what the surface is made has its own effect. For example, in football is the field made of grass or a synthetic turf? Is the game being played in a dome or an outside stadium? Some athletes feel better grips on different surfaces and this could play an outcome on the final score.

What time of day is the game being played? Some teams play better at night. Some pitchers have an easier time seeing the corner of the plate during day games. Hitters can have a harder time seeing a pitch if there are shadows on the field during an afternoon game.

Consult a respected reference. Ask a colleague if they’re aware of information you may not have heard. It doesn’t hurt to help each other out…Unless he’s the guy taking your bet. Then he may lead you astray a bit. So be careful.
