5 Ways To Find A Profitable Niche

Discover a profitable niche - a distinct segment of a market. Look to yourself. In which fields do you have expert knowledge? What do you enjoy? Where is your passion? You need to pick a field where you have knowledge you can share with people as you begin to build content on your website. What brings excellence to your site as the “value added” element is your expertise in a field.

1. Look to Yourself. You could pick a profitable market you don’t particularly like and don’t have a passion for or you can do what you love and hope the money will follow. Why not compromise and go middle of the road. I think you should be connected to your business and not just tolerate it. In order to do that you must create an internet lifestyle you enjoy. You don’t want your internet lifestyle to be only about money. But, on the other hand, you must be careful when picking a niche that doesn’t involve anyone spending money.
Make a list of any markets you might have interest in. Determine which of those markets have the best chance of being profitable for your new business by doing research on them.

2. Find the keywords that describe these markets. Expand your list with synonyms and related words. List all the keywords and synonyms you can think of. Don’t just consider the traffic on one specific phrase by itself. Run these keywords through a tool that can tell you their supply and their demand. What you should be looking for are keywords with a good demand but
low supply – which means there is a lot of interest since a lot of people are searching but not too many websites are supplying them information on this theme. You can use the Google keyword tool to do your keyword research.

3. Make sure that a phrase is worth ranking for. Consider the keywords that show the greatest potential and check the keyword prices for these words on Google AdWords and Overture. You should look for products that you could sell in an online store or that are offered via an affiliate program that pay fairly high commissions. You need to have a business idea that will have some profit potential or you will be working for nothing.

4. Survey the Competition. Search the internet for your potential competition. Determine how you can do it better, how you can offer a new twist, and where you now find only mediocrity; find a way you can provide excellence. You might look for an old copyright date – that would be a sign that a competing site isn’t any longer being maintained. If you do your research carefully and if you are persistent, you will probably find some niches that have potential, but are unfilled or under filled.

5. Know what people want. People want to feel better about themselves. They want more money, more time, or they want to fit in to a group. You should create a site that can add value to people’s lives by focusing on these things. In other words, before you put a lot of time into creating a product and sales pitch, why not send an email to your list and ask them if they would be interested in a short report on whatever the subject is of the product you want to sell? See how many people reply. If you get a lot of people asking for your information, then you can probably pursue it. Find a market. Do your research. Then make a plan of how you are going to turn all that traffic into income.
