5001 Error Fix – How To Repair The 5001 Error On Windows
There could be many possible reasons this error occurs. First, the passwords used for Microsoft Project Server, MS Project User and MS Project Server User SQL Server accounts might not match each other. If so, then the computer system will not be able to administer the components or applications you need to run. Second, the error 5001 can show up when the said programs are damaged or corrupted. Third, the error can be brought about by connection problems between the servers of Windows 2003 and Microsoft Windows 2000 (applicable to any service pack). Fourth, check if the MDAC 2.8 is being used by the Microsoft Windows 2003 server. To fix it, proceed to the steps outlined below. Step one is to modify the password on your account. Remember that one of the causes of the error is the inconsistent passwords of the accounts. You can change it by going to START> Programs> Microsoft SQL Server. From that folder, select the Security\Logins. Click on the account created for MS Project Server User and click PROPERTIES. A Password box will open and then, write the new password in it. Simply do the steps that follow. Do the same procedure to the rest of the accounts. Step two is to repair the corrupted or damaged accounts by replacing them. Be mindful that this particular task needs to be done with extreme caution because changing things in the registry is a sensitive matter. Mistakes might lead to more serious damage. The worst case scenario would be, having to re install the whole operating system in case the Registry Editor requires it. The first thing to do is to go the Enterprise Manager. This can be found in the Microsoft SQL Server folder found in PROGRAMS. Once you find it, expand the computer running the SQL Server. Then, proceed to Securitiy/Login Folder and then click on the MS Project User account; delete the account and confirm by clicking YES. Repeat these same set of instructions for the corresponding accounts. Next, leave the current window and go to START>RUN and in the box, put in "regedit". Find this: HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Office\10\MSProject\WebClient Server and then log on to the official Microsoft webpage and look for the step by step instructions dealing with replacing accounts. Follow carefully. Lastly, clean out the registry using the Frontline Registry Cleaner. This will fix problems directly found in the registry and it will save you lots of time. Instead of having to manually look for and fix problems in the registry, this program will do it in a blink of an eye.
