58.8 Billion Reasons To Embrace Ecommerce

If 58.8 billion aren't enough reasons then here's a few more to tempt you....

1) It’s fast
From start to finish, the build of an e-commerce shop will be fast when compared to sourcing, fitting out and stocking a physical store. You can have a web presence in a matter of minutes, albeit not a very considered one but you can at least have your domain bought and hosting set up quickly followed by a holding page and a ‘we’re on our way’ notice.

2) It’s (relatively) cheap
When you compare the costs of setting up a non-online shop with an ecommerce one you’ll easily see that online is much cheaper. If you are willing to drop-ship you won’t even have to worry about storing and shipping stock, it will all be done elsewhere saving you premises and the expense of buying the stock upfront. Not only that but the cost of having an ecommerce site designed and built is far cheaper than renting premises, paying staff etc

3) You can sell anywhere, anytime.
Your e-commerce shop is open 24/7, your product listings could be found and purchased from as far away as Timbuktu to ‘her just up the road’ – they reach is endless and only your shipping terms and delivery charges are your barrier.

4) The clincher – once again….£$£!
Who goes into any business not wanting to make money? That’s right, no one...
A recent report from IMRG showed that ecommerce sales in Aug 2011 reached a whopping £5.2bn, an increase of 14% on August 2010. As I said at the start of this article, £58.8 billion was spent in 2010. That’s nearly £60bn that YOU could be a part of.

With figures like that it’s hard to see what’s not to like about the idea of setting up an ecommerce company!
