6 Great Ways Of Researching For Your Article Marketing Topic
OK, so you want to do some article marketing, you’ve found a topic that you would like to write about. But, before you can write about that topic you need to know something about it. Yes, you may have some knowledge in that particular area but there’s really no harm in getting third hand information another point of view if you to help you in write up a good well thought out article that will provide your readers with good insight on your topic of interest. And you you’re into affiliate marketing it’s pretty hard to be an expert on everything that you’ll be marketing, so, this is where the research comes in.
Not everyone knows how to conduct a good research. It’s really more that just typing in a few words in your favorite search engine. It’s a good start but doing research on your topic is like mining for diamonds in the rough. You’ll find quite a few little ones near the surface but the ones that’ll get you the big bucks are much deeper in the ground.
Let me give you a few short pointers to get you going in the right direction:
1. Keyword Search. You’re writing this article to market a particular product or service for your internet business so you already know that making sure that you include some keywords in your article is important. You probably already have your keyword list so use it to help you in your search. Type in a variety of keywords as well as long tailed phrases. This in itself will bring up a lot of relevant sites and articles that will allow you to get a wide perspective on the topic.
2. Ask questions. Some of your friends and family members may have some knowledge on that particular subject that could be of help to you. Drill down your questions as well to really get into their heads about the subject.
3. Talk to others. And while you’re talking to your friends and family get engaged in a conversation about the topic at hand and see what types of questions they come up with; that will give you a good indication of what the general public will want to know about it and give you some direction for your research.
4. Go to the library. Yup, you heard me right, the library. Sure there’s a lot of information on the internet but there still is no substitute for that good old paper-bound book. You’ll find books in the library on a wide variety of topics as well as old newspapers, magazines, videos and those old super 8 film reels. You’ll be amazed at the facts you can pick up at this institution.
5. Watch television. Of course you don’t want to become a couch potato and waste all your time in front of the TV but take a look at the TV guide and see what documentaries or programs that are coming up that will help you with your topic.
6. Look around for other resources. Don’t restrain yourself to one area like the internet for your research. Using a variety of areas will give your topic many different perspectives and make you the expert that you are trying to convey in your article. You can even go to a conference that relates to the subject, visit museums or the zoo or even join an interest group. And speaking of groups don’t forget to look up forums and newsgroups on the internet, they’re always a good source on pretty much any topic.
When doing research on a topic you’re likely going to be writing more than one article on it so spending the necessary time up front doing some research as I’ve suggested above will give you lots of information for many different article and will at the same time make you the expert that you’re trying to convey when writing those articles.
