6 Myths You Must Stay Away When Building 6 Pack Abs
There is a lot of talk about the abdominal muscles when you are in the gym. You can see every guy got opinion on the topic and yet many of them don't actually have that 6 pack abs. Here are few of the the most wide spread abs myths:
* The abdominal muscles are different from the other muscles. Yes, they are different as every other muscles is and that's all. Same principles apply here as well. If you built your other muscles in certain way - apply with the abs, it will work. Doing something completely different with the abs, probably won't work.
* Abs training will create problems with the back. If you are doing it wrong it might trigger problems indeed. This goes for all exercises. Strengthening abs actually helps your back. It will be much easier to maintain straight back position with strong abs rather without them. Note that you must work on your posture independently from your abs.
* Abdominal muscles must be trained every day. Most guys train abs a little bit every day. Yes that is good for maintaining some level but absolutely no good for achieving ripped 6 pack abs. You have to stress them and rest them as every other muscle.
* 6 pack abs is achievable by anyone. In certain extend it is yes. Unfortunately this is something very depending on genetics. Your six packs may not be that flat as the other guy. Your six pack may not be looking as that movie 300. Your body structure is big factor in your abs appearance. Don't get discouraged - you can achieve A LOT if you train your abs the right way. Even more than you possibly suspect.
* Abs training gets you rid of stomach fat. Wrong, big time. I've seen guys that do very very intense abs training - like military endurance or something and I couldn't see a single pack on them. Fat on stomach can be reduced by different kind of exercise and diet, not abs training. You can actually have really nice 6 pack abs hidden under layers of fat.
* Focus on high reps. Abs as every other muscle need to be stressed in order to grow. Doing couples of hundreds ab reps work only on your endurance rather than your 6 pack abs. If your aim is endurance - go ahead. If you wanna have that ripper six pack abs - focus on quality reps as every other muscle you train.
Don't be the next guy following the myths and trying to get 6 pack abs. Make a plan, educate yourself and follow it. You will then see the results of your effort.
