This may come as a surprise...but I no longer see snoring as something like an addiction nor is it just a habit that we can drop whenever we feel the need.

1.Time to change your sleeping position
A little change in the way we position ourselves...sleeping on your side for instance can help you and I remedy snoring tremendously. 2.What do you drink before bed?
If it is beverages that contain caffeine or alcohol--you need to stop it now! Caffeine being the stimulant that it is only worsens our snoring condition by keeping us awake at night until you're so dog tired from exhaustion leaving you no choice but to "call the hogs."
Drinking alcohol before bed has the opposite but still negative effect of acting as a sedative. Creating an almost comatose like state when we're asleep. Resulting in outrageously loud snoring and directions to the nearest spare bedroom or couch.

Okay, you probably know that being overweight only adds to problem snoring. Just carrying around those extra pounds. You and I put added pressure on our respiratory systems--Obstructing our airway passages (throat and sinuses).
Adopting a healthy diet of fruits, vegetables and lean meats-- along with moderate exercise will do us wonders. You can try this--increasing the amount of water you drink will trigger your body to release excess water it retains to keep your hydrated getting rid of unnecessary water weight
4.Nasal strips, throat sprays and other OTC remedies for snoring
Although nasal strips and throat sprays offer quick and easy relief from snoring they aren't a permanent solution. And, over the counter relief can become quite expensive in the long run. By only masking the problem you and I are only prolonging our misery.
5.Holistic approaches...using household products
For some people...a regimen of deep breathing steam from peppermint or lavender oils through your nose to avoid nasal congestion, might do the trick.
Again-- your not really getting to the root problem, but opening your nasal passages can...for some of us...provide a much needed temporary remedy for snoring.
6.Can exercising the throat muscles do the trick?
Ahhh....here is where we get to the root of the problem. You see, snoring for the most part is mainly due to obstructions and weakening of muscle in our breathing passages and airways.
By toning and exercising those little throat muscles (what...you've never heard this before?) we do away with the blockages that cause all that god-awful snoring. Well known singers do these throat exercises all the time.
